TACLOBAN — The Rotaract Club of Tacloban officially launched the’Project K-wento’ a literacy and youth development project that kicked off at Bliss Elementary School, Brgy. 74 Lower Nula-Tula, last September 19, 2025.
Project K-wento’s start off
In partnership with the Department of Education (DEPED) Tacloban City Division, Rotaractors from Tacloban and partner clubs gathered to support the initiative—books and learning material distributions, interactive storytelling sessions, reading circles, and creative activities were engaged by the volunteers with the children.
The project aimed to promote literacy and empower young learners and with the support from international Rotaract Clubs—marking the beginning of a multi-phase literacy campaign.
Project K-wento continues in 2nd round
The second leg of ‘Project K-wento’ continued its phase 2 on October 2, 2025 at Tigbao-Diit Central School in Tacloban City.
Rotaractors returned with new stories and learning opportunities for students as they were joined in reading sessions and educational games further emphasizing the importance of literacy in youth development.
This time, volunteers encouraged students to explore books and express ideas.
The project reinforced the value of collaboration in community service with each chapter of ‘Project K-wento’ building a brighter, smarter future for every child.
